Policy Prescriptions analysts provided a series of webinars for the American Medical Student Association in the fall and winter of 2011-12. Topics covered included the history of the American Health Care system, evidence-based approaches to medical malpractice and pay-for-performance, and an update on the Affordable Care Act.

*History of American Health Care”

The first in this series was held on October 24, 2011 at 9pm Eastern. .

*The Affordable Care Act*

The second webinar – held on November 23, 2011 – discussed the Affordable Care Act and implementation issues relevant to year 2012. 

*Medical Malpractice*

Our third webinar on the Evidence behind Medical Malpractice was held January 18, 2012. The slides of the presentation describing the 4 principles of a medical malpractice case and the evidence based for tort reform were presented. In the end, we recommend a cap on non-economic damages among other ideas as a partial remedy to the perceived malpractice crisis. 

*Pay-for-Performance*

A webinar on the controversial practice of was held on March 19, 2012 and is available as a pdf by clicking the link.

*Is an Extra Degree worth it?*

A webinar featuring Drs. Cedric Dark, Kameron Matthews, Renee Volny, and Ijeoma Ejigari covered the topic “What can I do with that extra degree?” The participants have in addition to a medical degree, ones in public health, law, business, and PhD.
