Make it rain!

I decided to search the New York Times database to figure out how much money the contributors to this blog made off of Medicare after the uproar yesterday about overpaid doctors.

I was a bit disappointed to find out that none of us were millionaires unlike the physicians mentioned in the headlines around.

Either way, here’s the run-down:

 

Dr. Cedric Dark – total $112,134

critical care ER visit $181 per patient

 

Dr. Nii-Darko – total $4,324

critical care trauma vist $171 per patient

 

Dr. May Nguyen – total $3,031

family practice office visit $54 per patient

 

Dr. Lisa Maurer – total $32,963

$7 per emergency room EKG interpretation

 

Dr. Ellana Stinson – total $54,124

medium complexity ER visit $49 per patient

At least looking at this group, we don’t appear to be over-paid at all. In my opinion, it seems like our services are poorly valued in the first place.

When I pointed this out to Dr. Nguyen yesterday, she told me sarcastically that she was going to take her $3,000 and “make it rain.”
